Lunch Detention Level 1

  1. Teachers implement class behavior expectations (consequences) for their class. It should be logged in ATLAS and parents must be notified.  If student fails to follow agreed upon consequence, teacher will refer student to Admin and cc: Mrs. Gonzales to have student placed on LD list. Teacher needs to communicate through email the reason student was placed on LD, ie, tardy, failed to serve teacher assigned det., etc. Depending on the time of communication to Admin., students will serve as follows:
    • Students assigned LD period 1, 2, 3 will serve the same day. 
    • Students assigned LD period 4, 5, 6 will served the following day. (Mrs. Gonzales is not available per. 4)
       
  2. Admin will assign LD and notify Mrs. Gonzales daily as part of the discipline process.  Teacher referring students to LD and/or Admin may notify parents of LD, but teacher must log detention into Atlas. 
    • Students assigned LD period 1, 2, 3 will serve the same day. 
    • Students assigned LD period 4, 5, 6 will served the following day. (Mrs. Gonzales is not available per. 4)

**Students who are placed on L1 lunch detention due to Tardy, will be provided with a detention summons and will be expected to report to L1 detention. 

Friday School Detention

CAN ONLY BE ASSIGNED BY ADMIN AND RE-ENGAGEMENT TEACHER

  • Friday (2 hr.) school detention is assigned to student(s) who have exceeded the amount of LD detention, by not serving or accumulating more than could be served in 1 week.

This is only for students who have:

  • 5 or more tardies in a day, week, and/or month.
  • Been referred 5 or more times from teacher(s) for failure to serve class LD in one week.
  • Students who are disruptive or fail to follow LD rules.  
    1. Will have designated Student Safety Assistant to pick up students and escorted to assigned class. 
    2. Students will be working on reflection from responsibility video and/or homework.  They will be dismissed the last 5 minutes of lunch to use restroom facilities.

Students who are assigned Friday school detention will be picked up by SSA’s 10-15 minutes prior to the end of the day and sent to H6 classroom. Friday school detention is two hours long (2:50-4:50) and must be approved by admin and parents due to transportation.  Student will be required to complete Behavior reflection and submit to teacher prior to leaving Friday school. Reflection will then be sent to the teacher where the student broke classroom and/or school rules. If student fails to serve Friday school, parent will be notified and student will be assigned to 1 week of Cafeteria Beautification, if refuses to serve, will be required to sign a Behavior Contract, last resort is suspension.   

After School Detention

CAN ONLY BE ASSIGNED BY ADMIN AND RE-ENGAGEMENT TEACHER

  • After school detention is assigned to a student who has failed to serve Level 1 LD after given 2 chances.
  • Teachers can refer students to admin for after school detention only if student has failed to serve teachers assigned consequence, failed LD, and parent contact has been made. 

Students who are assigned after school detention will be picked up by CA’s 10-15 minutes prior to the end of the day and sent to H6 Mrs. Pishione classroom. ASD is implemented M, W, and TH (1 HR, 2:50-3:50) MUST BE APPROVED BY ADMIN AND PARENT DUE TO TRANSPORTATION. Student will be required to complete Behavior reflection and submit to teacher prior to leaving ASD. Reflection will then be sent to the teacher where the student broke classroom and/or school rules. STUDETS WHO FAIL TO SERVE ASD, WILL BE ASSIGNED TO FRIDAY SCHOOL, UNLESS PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS WERE MADE.

Student Support Center is Available for:

  • Students who need a place to de-escalate.
  • Students reporting a problem or safety concern.
  • Student referred by teacher for L3 misbehavior only.
  • Students returning from Suspension, require Reentry meeting with the Principal, Behavior Contract with VP and participate in the Peacemaking mediation.
  • Students receiving five or more discipline referrals within two weeks.
